Fashion icon of the day is David Bowie.

Is there anyone on planet earth that doesn’t have a crush on David Bowie? I have a hard time believing otherwise. He has been hot as fuck since 1964.

What is unique about Bowie is that aside from making the best music any of us have ever heard, he looks good in essentially anything. Or nothing. This is a feat that most people seem to find difficult to accomplish.

plus, I think I speak for the entire photographer’s population when I say that Bowie would be an absolute dream to photograph.

I don’t know how, but in my internet searches last night (the only thing I do when I’m sick besides sleep on the couch/moan about life), I came across this girl Miroslava Duma. Apparently she is a Russian “it girl” (I hate that term) that is an editor at Russia’s Harper’s Bazaar. I don’t know who her dad is but he apparently is somewhat well known. And I think she’s married (!!!!!) to some really wealthy Russian businessman. I try not to envy people but oh my god I envy this girl. She has the best hair ever, is totally gorgeous, and has an intensely good talent for wearing clothes. You have probably seen her around on Garance Dore and the Sartorialist.

Definitely a new style icon pour moi.

anyway. She’s just a fresh face that I love. I feel like…. there is no one here in the States that demonstrates the class that foreign “it girls” do. Sure, Miroslava wears tons of designer labels and carries tons of expensive bags, but she still makes it look good. Our it girls in the States just put on something by YSL and thinks they’re fashionable without doing anything else. Fashion is not about that. It’s all about how you wear something, what you feel like when you’re wearing it. Your own personal touch. Our it girls are flashing their vaginas to get noticed. It’s sick. Like Russell Brand said in his recent comedy special on Comedy Central upon meeting Britney Spears… “it’s a bit weird to meet someone when you’ve already seen their vagina.”

America needs some help.

I seriously just googled both “Jessica Alba” and “Jessica Biel” (they strike me as typical American it girls) and all the pictures I got, they were half naked. And not tastefully or artistically. Wtf?

a collection of thoughts

Well. it’s worrying on here the amount of people that actually comment my blog compared to the views this thing gets. Who is reading this, who are you and what do you want!? I’m joking. I like that people read it, I just don’t know who you anonymous people are! Drop me a comment one day. I promise I don’t bite. at least not hard.

- So I’ve been listening to this:

omfgg-original-music-featured-on-gossip-girl-no-1

That’s right. the Gossip Girl soundtrack. (I love the name of it “Original Music Featured on Gossip Girl ‘OMFGG’ No. 1″ honestly). If it matters at all, this comes highly recommended from yours truly. The moment I heard the Sioxsie and the Banshees cover/remix/whatever “Cities in Dust” in my friend’s car I decided that I needed this album. But yeah, it has the Kills (one of my all time favourites), the Virgins, Phantom Planet, the Teeangers (who I don’t even like all that much) and of course that wicked cover. If you’re interested, ask me for it plz.

 - I wrote the dumbest thing ever in my english class today. I forget what this style of poem is called but for some reason I thought it was hysterical. It had to involve a famous person or something.

“Oh dear Bob Dylan / I saw you freewheelin’ / You had no direction home / Your hair really needed a comb.”

- I feel the need to jet to Sweden ASAP. Gothenburg is calling me, even moreso that Stockholm. But that’s calling me as well. I saw these two photos on the Sartorialist (does he have the best job ever?) the other day. Tell me you don’t want to be in Sweden after knowing people like this are walking around, making the navy blue/black combination actually look incredible.

I think my favourite thing about Europe (ok, not my favourite thing, but my favourite insignificant thing) is that the cold never seems to affect them. Even in fashion capital New York City here in the US, people walk around in full length North Faces. even the fashionable people. Yet in Paris people can walk around like this…

1209coatbck2webI don’t understand this. Do they all possess some trait that we here don’t?

- I’m about to watch some Norwegian movie that came in from Blockbuster.com. Reprise? Anyone seen it? It looks like my mind of thing. Hot Norwegians are a major plus.

- I found a Janis Joplin greatest hits album for 5 bucks at Target. score.

- Has anyone read Catch-22?

I hadn’t been to his site in MONTHS. he’s so amazing. all these pictures… wow. I mean, these clothes speak for themselves really.

I entered this world on the Champs-Elysees, 1959. La trottoir du Champs Elysees. And do you know what my very first words were? New York Herald Tribune! New York Herald Tribune.

This post is full of random. These are some shots by Lachlan Bailey of Sasha Pivovarova that I love a lot. And it takes a lot for me to really love a fashion photography spread. There are so many fashion photographers I hate, more than I love. But I love these shots a lot. They are from the January 2009 issue of British Vogue (I think?)
